Verena received her PhD in 2014 from Goethe University Frankfurt (Germany) for her work on phylogenetics and phylogeography in bears and foxes. She went on to do a postdoc focusing on genome evolution and selection in crows at Uppsala University.
Verena joined the NBIS long-term support team in Stockholm in 2017. Her research interests center around the fields of comparative genomics, population and speciation genomics, conservation genomics and molecular evolution. She focuses mostly on the analysis of high-throughput sequencing data from non-model organisms.
