I am an associate professor in bioinformatics with expertise in genomics and statistical learning/AI. I studied Molecular Biology, Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Warsaw (BSc) and at the Uppsala University (MSc). In 2009, I received PhD in bioinformatics from Uppsala University. My doctoral studies have focused on the application of machine learning to modeling HIV resistance to drugs and in proteomics. In 2010 I joined the Computational Biology Group led by prof. Orjan Carlborg at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. There, I worked on modelling epistatic interactions and developing methods for genome-wide association studies. Next, I returned to Uppsala University to join the group led by prof. Kerstin Lindblad-Toh where I worked on canine genomics and computational genetics. I am particularly interested in ML/AI models, feature selection, linear mixed models and data visualisation. I joined NBIS Sweden in 2017 where I also became fond of population genomics and analyses of eDNA.

Besides my scientific interests, I am a big enthusiast of R and I teach R programming at both introductory as well as at advanced level. I am a founder and main responsible (along with Sebastian DiLorenzo) of RaukR, Advanced R for Bioinformatics International Summer School held annualy in Visby. I collaborate with RStudio open source team.
